Wayne Chambers

Wayne was born in Crewe, Virginia. As a young boy, he drew in the fields and forest on his family’s small tobacco farm. Drawing just came easy. He moved to Richmond in 1968 and worked for Phillip Morris for 31 years. He was so impressed with Richmond that he started painting its cityscapes and skyline views. He had a One Man Show at the Ross Building in downtown Richmond in the early 1980’s. Good fortune came his way. The Retail Merchants Association bought the entire show! He became their artist. He painted historical documentation paintings of Richmond. The paintings can be viewed in their Gallery Headquarters on 5500 Monument Avenue. He painted for them for 15 years. In 2000, I came to Savannah on a 3-week vacation. He painted many of the historical homes during that time. He also painted the famous Mercer House and landed a contract with the owners. He fell in love with this majestic city. He decided to move to Savannah. Wayne continues to paint and give classes.
