Mission Statement
Our committee’s goal, through a focus on collaborations with local partners, is to close gaps and aim to improve current access of care & support on a local, state and regional level. This includes access to resources, recognition of different types of violence, as well as offering participant’s best practices and tools to implement in their current focus.

Violence is all encompassing. Violence morphs into many forms from Workplace Violence, which is one of the leading causes of job-related deaths, to Child Victimization, Campus Crimes, Elder Abuse (including financial abuse), Domestic Violence, Human Trafficking and many other forms.
Crime costs victims and the society billions of dollars every year. The estimated cost of crime ranges widely, depending on the factors included in the calculations. These costs include accumulated fees for medical and psychological care, property loss, productivity losses, and pain and suffering. The billions required to run the criminal justice system are not included in these costs. Although all states have crime victim compensation programs for victims of violent crime, victims usually pay a significant share of the cost of crime.
The purposes of this conference are:
1. Raise awareness of issues related to violence and abuse in families, schools, and the workplace;
2. Illustrate how violence and abusive behaviors against individuals impact others in the family and community;
3. Describe how to identify and report victims of violence and abuse in the classroom and in health care and other settings;
4. Discuss strategies that are being used to prevent and reduce violent behaviors across the lifespan;
5. Describe services and programs available for victims of violence and abuse.

This conference has been approved by the HR Certification Institute to provide 6 General credit hours toward recertification as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) or Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR).
