National Youth-At-Risk Center recognizes High Flying School Awards to Georgia Schools

STATESBORO, Ga. – January 22, 2015 – With at least 50 percent of their students living at or below poverty level and with a highly diverse student body, three schools will be honored as the 2015 High-Flying Schools during the 26th Annual National Youth-At-Risk Conference, March 1 – 4, 2015 in Savannah, GA.

The winning schools are Louisville Middle School, Jefferson County, GA; Kendrick High School, Muscogee County, GA; and Fowler Drive Elementary, Clark County, GA. They were chosen for their achievements in attaining academic success, community collaboration, citizenship development and democratic education.

Set in the Hyatt Regency Hotel, the four-day conference has grown from humble beginnings in spring 1989 to a national leading conference for professionals who work with troubled youth. Attendance to the 2015 conference is anticipated to reach 1200 or more.

Hosted by Georgia Southern University College of Education, along with the University’s Division of Continuing Education, the conference draws educators, counselors, social workers, criminal justice professionals and community leaders, with substantial participation nationally and internationally.

Other conference highlights include keynote presentations by Marcia Tate, Geoffrey Canada and Jane Bluestein, pre-conference workshops, daily concurrent sessions, and networking opportunities with conference exhibitors and attendees.

The Conference provides an early discounted full conference fee of $335. Other discounts include group discounts, full-time student discounts, and discounted registration for a single day of the conference. All discounted rates expire after Monday, February 23, 2015.
